Assistant Director (summer/June-August)
The Assistant Director will assist the Camp Director in the day to day operations of Camp Michigamme during the summer season. They will be entrusted with responsibilities like overseeing program area staff, managing support staff, assisting with scheduling, dealing with minor conflicts, building a safe and welcoming working environment among staff and filling in for the Camp Director in their absence. This entails upholding camp policies and enforcing them. Great opportuny Must be at least 21 years old to apply. Summer runs from June 5th-August 28th.
Facilities Manager (seasonal/April-October)
The Facilities Manager is in charge of caring for all buildings and grounds at Camp Michigamme. They will work closely with the Camp Director to open camp for the summer season starting as early as April and then closing camp in the fall for the winter. During the summer months, they will be responsible for proper maintenance of all buildings and grounds and will supervise and train the maintenance staff in daily and weekly tasks. Must be at least 21 years old to apply and possess buildings and grounds experience, including plumbing, electrical, construction, and janitorial skills.
Head Lifeguard (summer/June-August)
You’ll be running the show at the waterfront at Camp Michigamme this summer. The safety and waterfront experience for all campers, volunteers, guests, and fellow staff will be your responsibility. You’ll be in charge of overseeing the lifeguards, managing the safety of the waterfront, maintaining the waterfront equipment and safety gear, providing all with clear waterfront guidelines, and enforcing all policies with regard to the waterfront and it’s usage. Prior lifeguarding experience required and prior supervision of a waterfront is desired. Current certifications also desired, however recertification training can be provided. Must be at least 21 years old to apply. Summer runs from June 5th-August 28th
Head Cook (seasonal/May-Sept)
You’ll be running the show in the kitchen and dining hall this summer at Camp Michigamme. The food experience for all staff, campers, volunteers, and guests will be your responsibility. You’ll be in charge of the menu, ordering, inventory, kitchen/dining hall upkeep and cleanliness, meal preparation and clean up, and supervising food service staff in the kitchen. Prior experience managing a kitchen or in food service is required. Must be at least 19 years old to apply. Season starts May 16th and runs through Oct 1st, although end date is negotiable.
Support Staff (summer/June-August and seasonal/June-Oct)
Being a member of the support staff means you will have the opportunity to help in a variety of areas at Camp Michigamme. You will be cross trained in food service, maintenance, waterfront, and various program areas as needed. If you are looking for an engaging, dynamic work experience and are willing to be trained in different areas of camp, then this is for you. No prior skills need, just a desire to learn and be trained. Areas of focus include food service, maintenance, lifeguarding, arts and crafts and more. Must be at least 18 years old to apply and must commit to the summer season from June 11th-August 28th. Lifeguard training will be offered June 5th – 9th free of charge for those who pass.
Help parents, campers, and guests enroll in their desired camp sessions. Assist with getting information out to families and generating positive marketing for Camp Michigamme in the months leading up to summer and the months after summer wraps up.
