Do you spend a lot of time outside? Do you have an adventurous spirit? Worried about the unknowns and risks of taking your kids out on the trail? Whether you enjoy leisurely hikes on flat winding trails or you hop on your mountain bike a couple times a week to thrash the trails, Wilderness First Aid is a 16 hour wilderness medicine course that prepares you for outdoor excursions and how to think, prepare, and act when things do not go as planned. From what to pack and bring along to how to care for someone who is injured or sick and get the wheels in motion for getting them out of the wilderness and to the care they need. The remote nature of the UP makes medical care hard to access if you are anywhere off a paved road. It is even harder when you are halfway down a mountain or up a creek. It only takes a 1/4 mile of single track trail to increase medical response time/evacuation to a trail head by an hour. This course will leave you better prepared to head out on the trail with confidence in the right resources, skills and knowledge.
